About The Position:

The position involves assisting the audit partners in a wide range of duties, including the below:

  • Assisting with the management of client portfolios comprised of a wide variety of medium- to small-sized clients, including listed companies, private companies, non-profit companies, individuals, trusts and close corporations
  • Assisting with the management of audits and related services, as well as providing a supporting function to directors of the firm, compliance with statutory obligations and the handling of enquiries

5Senior Bookkeeper
Job summary:

The Senior Bookkeeper is responsible for undertaking all bookkeeping activities up to Trial Balance including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts and payroll & other journals.

They will be processing end-to-end transaction allocation and accounts management, including helping with the preparation of financial/management reports.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Your key role is to perform all the activities of a financial controller.
  • Can perform all the tasks of an experienced Bookkeeper./li>
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence.
  • Directed by and reportable to Assistant Client Manager.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workload.
  • Willingness to learn and can adapt to changes.
  • Knowledgeable and can apply accounting concepts.

  • From time to time you may be asked to review and check less qualified and experienced team members’ work.
  • You will be required to work in a team and be willing and able to delegate work when asked by your Manager.
Technical requirements:

You will have success here if you value clear processes and feel qualified to do the following things:

  • Perform bank reconciliation.
  • Can prepare sales invoices in the client’s accounting system.
  • Enter supplier’s tax invoices in the client’s accounting system.
  • Process payments of A/P and collections of A/R.
  • Can resolve the recurring reconciling items showing in the reconciliation reports like Bank Reconciliation, Trade Payables/Receivables.
  • Can do payroll data entry processing and able to reconcile with relevant records.
  • Do relevant reconciliations of all balance sheet items.
  • Understanding of the flow of accounting transactions up the financial statements level.
  • Have a good understanding of the SARS E-filing portal and its use.
  • Can consult with accountants (internal & external).
  • Can liaise directly with the Firm’s clients when required.
  • Reviews the work of the Junior and Intermediate Bookkeepers
  • Use of the following software
    • Xero and preferable be a Xero Certified Advisor (Training can be provided)
    • Hubdoc and Dext (Training can be provided)

Soft skills:
