Mahdi Meyer Steyn Chartered Accountants Inc is seeking to appoint an Assistant Audit Manager to join our team in January 2022. The successful candidate is a recently registered CA (SA) or has successfully completed their APC and eligible to register as a CA (SA) with SAICA.

Education and experience required:

  • Completed SAICA traineeship
  • Completed APC and registered CA (SA) or recently eligible to register as CA (SA)

About The Position:

The position involves assisting the audit partners in a wide range of duties, including the below:

  • Assisting with the management of client portfolios comprised of a wide variety of medium- to small-sized clients, including listed companies, private companies, non-profit companies, individuals, trusts and close corporations
  • Assisting with the management of audits and related services, as well as providing a supporting function to directors of the firm, compliance with statutory obligations and the handling of enquiries
  • Delivery of quality work through maintaining audit and accounting standards
  • Assisting with management and development of audit staff in through the required supervision of audit planning, monitoring and evaluation of team progress and provision of the necessary training, as well as hands on assisting with assurance and related work

5Tax Administrator
The MMS Group requires the services of a Tax Administrator, to be based at our offices in Roodepoort. The role will support the tax administration service provided to our clients, and reports to the Managers and Partners of the Group. The successful incumbent will join an existing professional and technically strong tax department.

Duties of the role:

  • System maintenance (updating client information on Tax System and SARS efiling)
  • Ongoing learning in technical developments of accounting and taxation
  • Liaison with clients and tax manager
  • SARS liaison and query resolution, including correspondence and appointments with SARS
  • Compilation of reports
  • Assistance with or management of provisional tax administration (as appropriate)
  • Capturing and filing of tax returns for Companies, Trust and Individuals
  • Filing of IT14SD, including compilation and submission of relevant supporting documentation
  • Review and assess accuracy of SARS tax assessments
  • General tax enquiries
  • Efiling administration and payment coordination
